As a former editor at CASE and publications director at GMAC, Karla has a deep background in higher education’s problems and opportunities. She has seen firsthand that too many institutions send out bland messages focused on themselves rather than on what their audiences care about.

At Zehno, she loves the opportunity to help good organizations get better — seeing clients create clearer, more attention-getting messages and be more successful at solving their problems and meeting their audiences’ needs.

Before becoming a consultant in 1998, Karla Taylor was the publisher and editor-in-chief of Currents magazine at the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. She led Currents to “best magazine” awards more than a dozen times, making it CASE’s No. 1 member service. Her work for integrated marketing campaigns, ad campaigns, annual reports and convention programs has won 50+ awards, including top awards from the Association of Educational Publishers and Association Media & Publishing.

On weekends, she tackles the impossible dream: getting all the way through the Washington Post and the feature sections from the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. And after years of ballroom dance lessons, she’s got a killer cha-cha.
